What are Homophones?
Homophones are words that when spoken, sound similar but have a different meaning.
For example:
The pear was juicy, sweet and delicious.
The boy bought a pair of shoes but found out later they were the wrong size.
Pear and pair are the homophones.
Here is another example:
I heard there was a party at the park on Saturday.
A herd of cows walked into the field to eat the green grass.
Heard and herd are the homophones.
One last one:
I went to the Isle of Wight and I sat on the aisle row on the boat.
Isle and aisle are the homophones.
