What are Homophones?

Homophones are words that when spoken, sound similar but have a different meaning.

For example:

The pear was juicy, sweet and delicious.
The boy bought a pair of shoes but found out later they were the wrong size.

Pear and pair are the homophones.

Here is another example:

I heard there was a party at the park on Saturday.

A herd of cows walked into the field to eat the green grass.

Heard and herd are the homophones.

One last one:

I went to the Isle of Wight and I sat on the aisle row on the boat.
